Contemporary history describes the period timeframe that is closely connected to the present day; it is a certain perspective of modern history. The term "contemporary history" has been in use at least since the early 19th century. In the widest context of this use, contemporary history is that of current events and the part of history still in living memory. Based on current human lifespan-averages, contemporary history would extend for a period of approximately 80 years. In a narrower sense "contemporary history" may refer to the history remembered by most (more than 50 percent) of human beings alive, extending to about a generation. As the median age of people living on Earth is 30 years as of the present (2016) this is currently often understood as meaning anything after about 1991 when the Cold War order collapsed and use of the Internet became widespread outside of academia, defense and big business; the beginning of the "long 21st century".
The present age possesses a distinct character of its own.
Fine may refer to: A condition between good and bad.
A gemstone or gem (also called a fine gem, jewel, or a precious or semi-precious stone) is a piece of mineral crystal, which, in cut and polished form, is used to make jewelry or other adornments. However, certain rocks (such as lapis lazuli) or organic materials that are not minerals (such as amber or jet), are also used for jewelry, and are therefore often considered to be gemstones as well. Most gemstones are hard, but some soft minerals are used in jewelry because of their luster or other physical properties that have aesthetic value. Rarity is another characteristic that lends value to a gemstone. Apart from jewelry, from earliest antiquity engraved gems and hardstone carvings, such as cups, were major luxury art forms. A gem maker is called a lapidary or gemcutter; a diamond worker is a diamantaire.
The carvings of Carl Fabergé are significant works in this tradition.
Jewellery or jewelry (/ˈdʒuːᵊlᵊri/) consists of small decorative items worn for personal adornment, such as brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Jewellery may be attached to the body or the clothes, and the term is restricted to durable ornaments, excluding flowers for example. For many centuries metal, often combined with gemstones, has been the normal material for jewellery, but other materials such as shells and other plant materials may be used. It is one of the oldest type of archaeological artefact – with 100,000-year-old beads made from Nassarius shells thought to be the oldest known jewellery. The basic forms of jewellery vary between cultures but are often extremely long-lived; in European cultures the most common forms of jewellery listed above have persisted since ancient times, while other forms such as adornments for the nose or ankle, important in other cultures, are much less common. Historically, the most widespread influence on jewellery in terms of design and style have come from Asia.
Jewelry design is the art or profession of designing and creating jewelry. This is one of civilization’s earliest forms of decoration, dating back at least seven thousand years to the oldest known human societies in Mesopotamia and Egypt. The art has taken many forms throughout the centuries, from the simple beadwork of ancient times to the sophisticated metalworking and gem cutting known in the modern day.
Before an article of jewelry is created, design concepts are rendered followed by detailed technical drawings generated by a jewelry designer, a professional who is trained in the architectural and functional knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, composition, wearability and market trends.
Traditional hand-drawing and drafting methods are still utilized in designing jewelry, particularly at the conceptual stage. However, a shift is taking place to computer-aided design programs like Rhinoceros 3D and Matrix. Whereas the traditionally hand-illustrated jewel is typically translated into wax or metal directly by a skilled craftsman, a CAD model is generally used as the basis for a CNC cut or 3D printed 'wax' patter to be used in the rubber molding or lost wax casting processes.

Some contemporary churches claim that God’s Holy Spirit is physically manifested during services when a “cloud” suddenly appears near the ceiling inside the building, with fine particulates of supposed gold dust lightly falling over and settling on the congregation. These specially anointed churches also claim that after extended prayer times, people have found various sizes of feathers - purportedly from angels’ wings - along with diamonds and other precious gems on and underneath their seats. Many individuals even report these same things happening in their homes, and even in their cars, during and after they've prayed. Can these claims be verified, is there any basis that these are true and from God?, does the Bible teach that angels have feathered wings?, and what does God's Word truly...

Spending a year with this company Jill learnt about various aspects of jewellery design including everything from designing and making as well as the business side of running and building a business Since then she has worked as a self employed artist and ...

Raised on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming, Keri Ataumbi was exposed to both traditional Native American aesthetics and contemporary art theory and practice from an early age. Ataumbi attended Rhode Island School of Design before moving to Santa Fe in 1990. After moving to Santa Fe she worked as a landscape designer while attending the Institute of American Indian Arts and eventually received a BFA in painting with a minor in art history from the College of Santa Fe. She currently lives and works in the Cerrillos Hills outside Santa Fe. In creating what she terms “wearable art,” she is interested in exploring the relationship between jewelry’s capacity as adornment and as sculpture. The aesthetic of Ataumbi’s work blends geometric, modern design with natural, organic undertones.

www.AlternativeHealthTools.com www.MelodyOwensArt.com Melody Owens is captivated by the mystery and the beauty that make a person iconic and revered. “I am inspired to paint women in classic beauty, illuminate heroines with a Hollywood glow and revive vintage elegance in a contemporary age. I aim to capture the radiance of soft light and diffuse certain features contrasted by focused details. Bright colors and textures can give the eye a sensory pleasure. In my work I play with the balance of abstraction. I use loose but determined strokes to blend details and realism. My choice of media is acrylic followed by oil. Sometimes, I mix it up by starting with a gouache base. The luminescence in my art is often amplified with jewels and the glossy shine of silver leaf contrasting strong rustic...
Contemporary jewelry is doing OK. It does not need another pat on the back in the form of a 300-page book of images. When taking on the task of editor in 2010, Damian Skinner decided to treat Contemporary Jewelry in Perspective as an opportunity to examine jewelry as a mature, fully developed practice. Rather than propose yet another set of justifications for its existence, he led a project to provide instruments to navigate the spaces in which jewelry lives (Part 1), to understand the history of the field (Part 2), and to grasp some of the contentious issues that animate jewelry today (Part 3). This joint lecture by Benjamin Lignel and Namita Wiggers, both contributors to Contemporary Jewelry in Perspective, Part 1, will look at the history of contemporary jewelry through the lens of some...
